Lenexa Karate Academy is the premiere karate school in the Kansas City Metropolitan area offering professional martial arts services and instruction to people of all ages! With over 40 years experience, 10th degree black belt, Hanshi Dan Kennedy leads the school with knowledgeable and skilled instruction along with a staff of highly talented black belt instructors. Lenexa Karate Academy maintains an attitude of excellence in all aspects of the organization – from office procedures, to quality instruction, to a clean and sanitary facility, we strive to make sure that every aspect of the dojo is maintained at the highest professional standards.
Classical Okinawan karate is the core martial art taught at Lenexa Karate Academy and we also offer Jujitsu and Kobujitsu (weapons) – all of which make for a well-rounded and fit martial artist. MOST IMPORTANTLY we emphasize techniques that work in the real world.

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Dan Kennedy, Hanshi
Hanshi Kennedy began his training in the martial arts over 45 years ago in Okinawan Kenpo,Hawaiian Kempo, Jujitsu and Weapons.. He met Hanshi Bill Marron in 1973 after moving from California to Overland Park, Kansas. Now the Chief instructor at Lenexa Karate Academy and founder of the United States Kenpo Kobujitsu Federation, Hanshi Kennedy has trained over 200 Black Belts.
Mike Colahan, Kyoshi
Kyoshi Colahan has been training in the martial arts since 1989 with a strong emphasis in Karate, Jujitsu and Kobudo. While he has dabbled in many other combative arts over the years, his core training comes from Hanshi Dan Kennedy and the influences of his peers.

Justin Quinn, Kyoshi
Kyoshi Quinn has been training with Hanshi Kennedy from the first day he stepped foot onto a dojo floor. For 22 years Quinn has studied with Hanshi Kennedy, and his many influences, earning dan ranks in Okinawan Kenpo, Jujitsu and Kobujitsu. Renshi Quinn is one of our senior kobudo practitioners and instructors at Lenexa Karate Academy as well as throughout the organization.
